Walk & Talk

Outdoors counselling is not a new idea, but it has recently become extremely relevant in the light of the Covid-19 emergency.
It is easy to recognise the importance of nature, and as human beings we all feel the benefits of immersing ourselves in stunning panoramas or enjoying a beautiful view.
Also being active outdoors through walks and sports has long been recognised by the scientific community as beneficial for our health and general wellbeing.
Why then confine the therapeutic experience in a counselling room?
There are many situations where it might be easier and more effective for a client to explore their thoughts and difficulties while walking.
The direct contact with nature and various weather conditions could also be very helpful to process different states of mind.
My favourite routes are in the Brecon Beacons, mainly for the stunning views and the possibility of privacy during the walk. Of course, we always have to take into consideration our Welsh weather... and we can revert to my practice when the forecast is not inviting.
